Balthazar's Spirit w/ Shielding Hands
Ok, I'm going to do some testing with this later but I thought I'd post my question here in the meantime (since I can't test at work).
I'm interested in building a Protection Monk that utilizes Balthazar's Spirit and Shielding Hands. If I have Spirit on me and get swarmed by enemies will the energy regeneration be the same with or without Shielding Hands? Some things I've considered in my ponderings: Does Balthazar's Spirit give you a % of energy based on how much damage was dealt or does it give you X energy everytime you take damage? If Shielding Hands blocks ALL damage from an attack (-0) will Balthazar's Spirit still generate some energy or is -0 ignored by Balthazar's Spirit? Thanks in Advance! |

Balthazar's Spirit will give you 1 energy for every hit you take. If that hit is -0, you will still gain energy. Raising Smiting Prayers will increase the amount of adrenaline Balthazar's Spirit will grant for each hit on top of the 1 energy, but ofcourse only a primary or secondary warrior can feel this benefit: if you're only interested in the energy, you could very well take it with 0 Smiting Prayers and still gain full benefits from it.

I'd say that's pretty incredible. No so much that you can still get the full benefits of Balthazars Spirit at 0 Smiting but the fact that a -0 hit still yeilds full energy benefits. Seems like an oversight to me but hey, I'll take it =]
Along those same lines, will you also gain energy when combining Balthazar's Spirit with spells that prevent all damage for a certain duration? I think there is one called Pacifism for a monk and one called Mist Form for an Elementalist. There are problaby other as well. Thanks! Last edited by monkeyink; Jun 29, 2005 at 02:25 PM // 14:25.. |

Pacifism does more than preventing damage. It stops the enemy from attacking in the first place. And no attack means no energy gained.

And of course balthazaars spirit isn't as effective when being attacked by a single enemy, or just maintaining it without being attacked at all, because you'll have a slower mana regain.

I suspect that Shielding Hands is the very final end of the process of damage reduction.
I can have Retribution and Shielding Hands up and even though I take 0 damage from Shielding Hands, the enemy still takes damage from Retribution. |

I have tested Life bond and protective spirit, and all I have to say is that spell effect stacks are whack. Life bond would hit me for 200~ish on an aatxe, then p.spirit would kick in for my target ally.
